Mindfulness and meditation is a proven way to help us become present, aware and break the cycle of negative thinking. Helping us to calm the ‘crazy monkey mind’ by bringing awareness to the present moment in a non-judgemental way.
Make friends with how you feel
When in a state of mindfulness, we allow ourselves to observe our feelings, rather than numbing them or pushing them away. Making friends with how we feel is a powerful part of calming our thoughts. Our subconscious mind, responsible for emotions, actions and behaviours, is in control 95% of the time, our conscious mind is only in control 5% of the time. Putting aside a small amount of time to meditate or practise mindfulness allows us to be more aware and accepting of our feelings and actions.
Thoughts are not facts
We do not see the world as it is, we see the world as we perceive it to be. This means that every situation is neutral until we put meaning to it, either positive or negative. The great thing is, that means we have a CHOICE as to how to perceive any given situation and how to react to it. We believe what we tell ourselves, meditation and mindfulness allows us to examine those thoughts without judgement and decide if we would like to choose to think different thoughts.Let's get calmer - Workshop this way
